Who you HIRE for Video & Media, Matters

Before you consider video, photos, media, website builds or any marketing for your business, consider the following:

  • Is who I am hiring a legitimate business?

  • Is this person or business insured to be on my property or can be held responsible for errors and omissions?

  • How experienced is the person or business? Can I trust them?

  • Do they understand FCC compliance for advertising, standard practices, copyrights and compliance for media and website builds?

  • What exactly am I receiving for service and who is accountable if I am sued for content provided?

  • Is this a fair and competitive rate I am being charged for service? If not, why?

These are some very important questions to ask yourself when hiring a media marketing professional whether it is an agency or freelancer.

We have seen and heard too many business owners paying, typically on the low end and sometimes paying way too much, for services through someone and getting cookie-cutter content, questionable content or very basic content requiring additional fees and add-ons for minor upgrades and producers that digitally disappear when there is an issue.

This is why most people may say "video/media marketing doesn't work for me". With the wrong people producing for you, you would be correct.

Websites for example are more than a pretty page. Your website needs to be intuitive, ADA compliant (Americans with Disabilities), built for search engine optimization (SEO) and reflect your brand effectively. Your website builder should be able to provide and/or understand how your website should rank in search in X amount of time. (Typically 30-90 days). Example: Go to Google or Bing and search what your business does in your area and see where you rank. "Chiropractors in Detroit, MI". Where would you rank if you were a Chiropractor.

We share this, to provide better insight on who/what to consider when hiring out media and marketing. This also applies to in-house marketing teams as well. If your marketing is not working, pause what you are doing, assess, correct and go again. It does work and can work for you.
