Be Present

The best thing you can do is be present in the moment.

Whether in business or with family and friends, be present in the moment. Hear the sounds, see the sights, take in the conversation (if any) and really let it soak in. Observe and reflect. Because even in reading this paragraph, a moment in time has come and gone.

Being present allows us to focus our energy on the hear and now. Little decisions, big decisions, good decisions and poor decisions compound over time. Being everywhere else but in the present moment makes us an anxious people, wrought with fear, sometimes anger, restlessness and other negative emotions. An untamed balancing act of life, family and business will eventually fall apart. Every moment does not have to be a business opportunity. Take a moment to slow down, breathe, reflect, write, walk or draw. Do something opposite of what you're doing.

Examples: Hustling? Slow down. Being lazy? Accomplish something, even if it's small. Free time? Do something fun or spend it with people you care about.

There's so much more to life than trying to get ahead. There is so much beauty in slowing down. The world may not agree with you but in the end, you'll more than likely be grateful you did.
