Don't Lose Yourself

The toughest thing for most beginning and even veteran business owners is separating one's personal life from business life. Always separate finances, yet I am talking about life. The inbetween. The person you may be seeing or married to, kids you may have, hobbies you enjoy and other areas that make up life.
These days, too many pride themselves with how much hustling their doing, work they accomplish, titles achieved, awards on their shelves, etc. In the end, it doesn't really matter...does it?
I had a unique opportunity inbetween projects and daily work to be with my wife before, during and now 6 months after pregnancy. I was fortunate to place my business on pause as our daughter arrived 7 weeks early. Many trips to NICU was a reminder that life is precious. Even at whatever stage and age you're in, life is precious. We think we have tomorrow but in reality, we're blessed if tomorrow shows up for us.
Now, I am not trying to tell you work and hustle is meaningless. I am encouraging you to not lose yourself mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually or even friends and family over sweating for that next dime. It's not really worth it. If you want peace in this life, I encourage you to pause, if even for a moment and ask yourself "am I doing too much? Am I losing myself in this?"
Last example. While operating MI Media Harbor and helping small businesses continue to go and grow, I also am wrapping my second feature film, set to debut this Summer. It is a ton of work. Phone calls, meetings, technicalities, logistics, etc. Yet every so often I check in with friends and family to make sure I don't lose myself or them in the shuffle. I have even made it a point to lock off one day a week for family, friends and myself. Otherwise, I could hit a point of no return. And you know as a business owner or professional, how difficult that can be.
My final words of encouragement is this..."BE in the moment." Cherish the times you have with loved ones and the adventures together. Life is that previous and most likely, your business and endeavor, will always be there.
