Should you DIY your Media Marketing?

Ever have the thoughts of "I can do this myself", "Why should I pay someone else for this" or "What bad could come of this anyway?"....
Should you DIY your media marketing efforts? This is a loaded question that has many answers. In short, yes and no...and no and maybe. Confused? That's OK. Here's some thoughts...
Have you ever done a task or given a task to another person who is either not qualified or partially qualified to complete the task? And then you ended up redoing the task over and over or eventually hiring a professional to perform the task? This could be electrical, plumbing, building, CPA, Attorney, etc. Another example, I've flown many jets and airplanes in Microsoft Flight Simulator, yet I am highly unqualified to pilot a real aircraft.
Point is, we hire professionals because they have the knowledge, correct tools, connections, understand rules/code/regulations and hopefully are insured, just in case something goes wrong.
Social media, entertainment and business is getting noisy. Very very noisy. You can all the right tools, best graphics, best website and crickets for customers. There is a reason why good consultants, producers and agencies cost money. They have the knowledge of how to implement, optimize and conquer. They stay well-educated in trends, regulations, ethics and creativity. What pops today is flat tomorrow. That song you use today (even if its for a random TikTok) can cost you thousands tomorrow due to licensing infringement.
I am not trying to scare you and tell you not to create and launch media and marketing assets yourself. However, if business isn't moving and you're not connecting with your audience, something is possibly being overlooked. That is when it is worth connecting with a good, preferably local, media marketing consultant, producer or agency. Gain the knowledge and perspective you need to move forward.
Last note, as a movie producer and director for our parent company, we run many checks on media and our product long before launch. In pre production there are checks and balances, as in production and in production. Our latest movie in editing has been view hundreds of times and when it goes to test screenings we almost always find something that needs corrected of touched up.
A solid media marketing professional will do just that. Look at your business and/or marketing strategies from the top down to identify your needs, opportunities and challenges. Solutions can then be developed and launched from there.
